ਰੂੜੋ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮਾਹਰੋ ਰੂੜੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ॥
रूड़ो ठाकुर माहरो रूड़ी गुरबाणी ॥
Rūṛo ṯẖākur māhro rūṛī gurbāṇī.
Beautiful is the Supreme Lord and Master, and beautiful is the Word of the Guru's Bani.

ਰੂੜੋ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮਾਹਰੋ ਰੂੜੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ॥

Rūṛo ṯẖākur māhro rūṛī gurbāṇī.

ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
वडै भागि सतिगुरु मिलै पाईऐ पदु निरबाणी ॥१॥
vadai bẖāg saṯgur milai pā▫ī▫ai paḏ nirbāṇī. ||1||
By great good fortune, one meets the True Guru, and the supreme status of Nirvaanaa is obtained. ||1||
ਮੈ ਓਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਗੀਆ ਓਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਗੀ ਹਮ ਛੋਰੂ ਥਾਰੇ ॥
मै ओल्हगीआ ओल्हगी हम छोरू थारे ॥
Mai olĥgī▫ā olĥgī ham cẖẖorū thāre.
I am the lowest slave of Your slaves; I am Your most humble servant.
ਜਿਉ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਰਹਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जिउ तूं राखहि तिउ रहा मुखि नामु हमारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ji▫o ṯūʼn rākẖahi ṯi▫o rahā mukẖ nām hamāre. ||1|| rahā▫o.
As You keep me, I live. Your Name is in my mouth. ||1||Pause||
ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਘਣੀ ਭਾਣੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈਐ ॥
दरसन की पिआसा घणी भाणै मनि भाईऐ ॥
Ḏarsan kī pi▫āsā gẖaṇī bẖāṇai man bẖā▫ī▫ai.
I have such a great thirst for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; my mind accepts Your Will, and so You are pleased with me.
ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਾਥਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਭਾਣੈ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
मेरे ठाकुर हाथि वडिआईआ भाणै पति पाईऐ ॥२॥
Mere ṯẖākur hāth vaḏi▫ā▫ī▫ā bẖāṇai paṯ pā▫ī▫ai. ||2||
Greatness is in the Hands of my Lord and Master; by His Will, honor is obtained. ||2||
ਸਾਚਉ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ॥
साचउ दूरि न जाणीऐ अंतरि है सोई ॥
Sācẖa▫o ḏūr na jāṇī▫ai anṯar hai so▫ī.
Do not think that the True Lord is far away; He is deep within.
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ ਕਿਨਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੩॥
जह देखा तह रवि रहे किनि कीमति होई ॥३॥
Jah ḏekẖā ṯah rav rahe kin kīmaṯ ho▫ī. ||3||
Wherever I look, there I find Him pervading; how can I estimate His value? ||3||
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਹਰੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
आपि करे आपे हरे वेखै वडिआई ॥
Āp kare āpe hare vekẖai vadi▫ā▫ī.
He Himself does, and He Himself undoes. He Himself beholds His glorious greatness.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਾਲੀਐ ਇਉ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥
गुरमुखि होइ निहालीऐ इउ कीमति पाई ॥४॥
Gurmukẖ ho▫e nihālī▫ai i▫o kīmaṯ pā▫ī. ||4||
Becoming Gurmukh, one beholds Him, and so, His value is appraised. ||4||
ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਲਾਹਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
जीवदिआ लाहा मिलै गुर कार कमावै ॥
Jīvḏi▫ā lāhā milai gur kār kamāvai.
So earn your profits while you are alive, by serving the Guru.
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੫॥
पूरबि होवै लिखिआ ता सतिगुरु पावै ॥५॥
Pūrab hovai likẖi▫ā ṯā saṯgur pāvai. ||5||
If it is so pre-ordained, then one finds the True Guru. ||5||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਤੋਟਾ ਨਿਤ ਹੈ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਭਰਮਾਏ ॥
मनमुख तोटा नित है भरमहि भरमाए ॥
Manmukẖ ṯotā niṯ hai bẖarmėh bẖarmā▫e.
The self-willed manmukhs continually lose, and wander around, deluded by doubt.
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਈ ਕਿਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੬॥
मनमुखु अंधु न चेतई किउ दरसनु पाए ॥६॥
Manmukẖ anḏẖ na cẖeṯ▫ī ki▫o ḏarsan pā▫e. ||6||
The blind manmukhs do not remember the Lord; how can they obtain the Blessed Vision of His Darshan? ||6||
ਤਾ ਜਗਿ ਆਇਆ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਸਾਚੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
ता जगि आइआ जाणीऐ साचै लिव लाए ॥
Ŧā jag ā▫i▫ā jāṇī▫ai sācẖai liv lā▫e.
One's coming into the world is judged worthwhile only if one lovingly attunes oneself to the True Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਭਏ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੭॥
गुर भेटे पारसु भए जोती जोति मिलाए ॥७॥
Gur bẖete pāras bẖa▫e joṯī joṯ milā▫e. ||7||
Meeting the Guru, one becomes invaluable; his light merges into the Light. ||7||
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੋ ਕਾਰ ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਰਣੀ ॥
अहिनिसि रहै निरालमो कार धुर की करणी ॥
Ahinis rahai nirālmo kār ḏẖur kī karṇī.
Day and night, he remains detached, and serves the Primal Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ॥੮॥੧੯॥
नानक नामि संतोखीआ राते हरि चरणी ॥८॥१९॥
Nānak nām sanṯokẖī▫ā rāṯe har cẖarṇī. ||8||19||
O Nanak, those who are imbued with the Lord's Lotus Feet, are content with the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||8||19||
